This is an article wirtten by Mike Clements at the Corsair blog about overprovisioning and the the Corsair SSDs announced without this overprovisioned space.
Much has been written about overprovisioning and its implementation on SSDs. In short, overprovisioning, or OP, is a portion of storage space on an SSD that is reserved for use only by the SSD controller. The three most common reasons are wear leveling, the replacement of bad blocks, and read-modify-writes. Overprovisioning serves to help increase both the longevity and performance of SSDs and it is a very common practice among SSD manufacturers.
However, some users would like to be able to buy their SSDs without the built in overprovisioning and make the decision to OP, or not to OP for themselves. They prefer the flexibility of decision when to OP and how much space to use based on their specific needs. Corsair has announced and is now offering SSDs without this overprovisioned space.
Corsair SSDs with overprovisioning space typically have used 7% of the total SSD storage capacity. This means that users now have a choice with these new drives to use them with or without overprovisioning. Users can manually overprovision the drives if they wish or, they can leave them at their full capacity with no overprovisioning and enjoy the extra space.
For users of 256GB SSDs, this means they can have an extra 16GB of storage capacity on their drive over the equivalent 240GB overprovisioned SSD. Of course, RAID users will benefit even more as the number of drives are increased.
In reading some of that aforementioned information about overprovisioning, Ive found a great deal of very useful information over at Anandtech. Heres a diagram from one of Anands SSD articles highlighting how overprovisioning works.
To OP, or not to OP. That is the question. Whether tis nobler to the PC performance...

Pavilion HP DV4 2160US 14 1 Inch Laptop computer Review
Specifications: This is a competent well known laptop from HP. The 14.1-inch HP Pavilion DV4-2160US includes a 2.26Ghz Intel Core i5-430M processor chip. Additionally, it contains the brand new Turbo Boost Technology that will speed up the performance to approximately 2.53Ghz. Besides that, this laptop has 4GB of DDR3 RAM MEMORY (8GB Max), 320GB for storage and an Intel HD Graphics card (1696MB for graphics memory). There are a slew of some other features including a HDMI port, 8X DVD drive, memory card speaker, Altec Lansing speakers, a memory card reader plus a 14.1-inch HD display (1280 x 800). This type has Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).
Design: HP has chose to become a little more adventurous using the design of the HP Pavilion DV4-2160US. This laptop has an ‘HP Digital Plaid’ end that provides the laptop a kind of a textile fell to it. The exterior casing includes a high-gloss mocha finish and generally, has a really stylish and modern look. It is a full-size laptop, measuring at 13.15 x 9.45 x 1.34 inches as dimensions. This weighs 5.2 pounds.

Overview LenovoThinkPad X301
Lenovo is going to launch the ThinkPad X301 13.3-inch ultraportable notebook on August 26, according to a press release.
The Lenovo Thinkpad X301, which is a successor of the X300 laptop, starts at less than three pounds and is one-inch thin. Lenovo says the ThinkPad X301 “provides on average nearly 20 percent better performance over the ThinkPad X300 notebook due to the latest DDR3 memory and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo ultra low volt processor.”
The X301 will be available with the upcoming Intel Core 2 Duo ULV U9300 (1.2GHz) and U9400 (1.4GHz) processors. Both CPUs have 6MB of L2 cache and a 1066MHz front side bus, according to Engadget.
The system supports up to 2GB of RAM, and will ship with up to 128GB of solid state drive storage (available in September), a built-in optical drive, and display with LED backlight. Other features include WiFi, mobile broadband, GPS, UltraWide Band, and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as Display Port and VGA outputs.
The ThinkPad X301 notebooks will start at $2,599.
Fujitsu releases PH50 C laptop with AMD Fusion and 11 6
Here is the most recent 11.6 being released with AMD Fusion, Fujitsu’s Laptop PH50/C. Fujitsu organization is producing 11.6 " ‘thin and light’ notebooks in Intel and AMD types for two yrs by now and also this one gets control from previous year’s Lifebook PH520 collection which AMD’s Nile / Athlon II Neo platform.
The style is a little bit modified but looks like old Fujitsu styles. The specifications are: 11.6″ 1366 x 768 screen, Radeon High Definition 6310 graphics, AMD E-350 Zacate APU, 2GB of Ram Memory, 500GB Hard Disk Drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 10/100 LAN, a card reader, Ethernet, HDMI, USB 2.0 slots and a 5,800 mAh battery for around 7.3 hrs and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Fix Bluescreen Boot on Laptop HP all series
Bluescreen is usually caused by a driver or software conflicts, resulting from the error eventually laptop can not be used, the fund only displays a bluescreen with erorr notification, and you have to press the power button for approximately 15 seconds to turn it off, to fix the blue screen problem you can follow the steps as follows,
- break with the peripheral devices and let your HP laptop without accessories, and try to turn it on again, if the error message is still visible then you have to do the second and third,
- break with the energy source, remove battery, and press the power button for about 15 seconds.
- plug it back into electrical energy, (without a battery) and press the power button, see if the CapsLock and NumLock LED lights , listen to what the funds voice disk drive and cooling fan,
try to restart the HP laptop you can now be used and work normally, if there is still a blue screen error, it is advisable to fix it to the nearest HP dealer, or you can wait for the next post from me

Dell today announced the Inspiron 13 affordable notebook with a 13.3-inch display.
The Dell Inspiron 13 will start at under $700 and weighs less than 5 pounds.
“The Inspiron 13 combines a simple and clean design encased in glossy Pacific blue with black trim. Key features include a 13-inch LCD, touch-sensitive media buttons, 8-in-1 media card reader and slot-loading DVD drive. Optional features include built-in broadband wireless networking, built-in webcam and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity,” NotebookReview reports.
There is no information on laptop’s core components, such as processor, memory, and HDD.
A special Inspiron 13 configuration for $699 will be available at Wal-Mart starting August 3, while configurable models will be available on Dell’s website later in the month.

Acer America today debuts the Acer S5201M Projector with ultra-short-throw projection and an Acer SmartPen that writes directly on the projected image to enhance presentations, improving audience collaboration, communication and learning. This product is now available to customers in the United States and Canada.
As demonstrated at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) show in Philadelphia, the Acer S5201M can project images onto flat surfaces from as little as 19.2 inches away, so groups in smaller classrooms and conference rooms can enjoy large-screen, vibrant presentations, images and videos. Also, this projection flexibility ensures space maximization since the projector can be adjusted to fit as needed from a range of distances. The Acer S5201M projector has a 0.61:1 throw ratio, projecting a large 77-inch diagonal image from only 37.4 inches away.
Included with the Acer S5201M projector is the Acer SmartPen, which transforms the projector into an interactive collaboration center. Presenters can use the pen to “write” on the projected images to emphasize aspects of the presentation, explain questions for the audience, and even enhance the presentation with additional information on-the-fly. The pen can be used from up to 32 feet away from the image, so audience members may also use the pen to “write” feedback and questions on the presentation.
